Jeff Heer, Chief Scientist and Co-Founder of Ridge AI
Jeff is the Chief Scientist and Co-Founder at Ridge AI. He is also a Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington, where he co-directs the UW Interactive Data Lab and conducts research on data visualization, data science, and human-computer interaction. The visualization tools developed by Jeff and his collaborators — including Vega, Vega-Lite, D3.js, and Mosaic — are used by researchers, companies, and data enthusiasts around the world.

Formerly Jeff co-founded Trifacta, a provider of interactive tools for scalable data transformation. Trifacta was acquired by Alteryx in 2022.

Jeff holds B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ellie Fields

Ellie is the CEO and Co-Founder of Ridge AI. Previously she was the Chief Product and Engineering Officer at Salesloft, where she led development for a sales workflow platform that put AI and action in a tight loop to drive results.

Prior to Salesloft, she was at Tableau Software for 12 years, where she led product strategy and engineering for mobile apps, collaboration, search and Tableau Public. Ellie was part of the core team that envisioned, built and launched Tableau Public and Tableau Online, and led Tableau’s insanely vibrant customer community. She’s proud of her nickname, “the Godmother of Tableau Public.”

Ellie has an MBA from Stanford University, and a B.S. in Engineering and a B.A. in Policy from Rice University.

Fritz Lekschas

Fritz is a Founding Research Engineer at Ridge AI, where he is building AI-native tools that let users intelligently create and explore visualization dashboards.

Fritz's work sits at the intersection of visualization, AI/ML, and human-computer interaction. Prior to Ridge, he was Head of Visualization Research at Ozette, where he led R&D of interactive visualization systems. He has authored more than 20 publications in top venues (Nature, IEEE VIS, ACM CHI) with 4000+ citations, won multiple awards, and given an invited keynote. He is also the creator of widely used open-source visualization tools including Jupyter Scatter and regl-scatterplot, and co-creator of HiGlass.

Fritz holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Harvard University and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Bioinformatics from Freie Universität Berlin.
Andy is a Founding Engineer at Ridge AI, where he is building the next generation of embedded analytics—fast, scalable, and powered by AI.

Before Ridge, he was a Principal Software Engineer at AppOmni, where he helped secure SaaS applications for some of the world’s largest enterprises. Earlier, Andy spent over four years at Tableau Software, leading engineering for data visualization and platform services, experiences that deepened his expertise in making data accessible at scale. He also held senior engineering roles at Expedia and Getty Images, where he worked on high-traffic, consumer-facing platforms with demanding performance and reliability needs.

Andy holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Gonzaga University. He has taught computer programming at the Art Institute of Seattle and regularly works with students, including on an application for the White Pass Ski Patrol.
